April was a good month for me. I am actually getting a handle on this blogging thing. My main goal as a content creator is to be more consistent (I’m reaaaaly working on it!). In the month of April, I wrote 7 posts. At the start of the month, I was aiming for 20 posts! What was I thinking?! – Blogging is hard work and it can be very time consuming. This is a journey I have always wanted to take. I am glad that I am finally doing this.
I want to take stock of my months. The purpose of this is to give you a window into some of the different, yet random tidbits of my life. It’s my way of sharing my thoughts on things I like, how I feel etc. This series is something I saw from an Australian health blogger. There are other bloggers who do this as well. By starting this series, I am hoping that I can connect with my readers on a more personal level. Taking stock posts will be my version of a mini online diary (so to speak).
Here it goes, taking stock.
Going to the gym regularly has become a thing for me. My stress levels go down and I work better anytime I workout.
Growth is very important to me in 2017. Pushing myself to be a better version of me is top priority. This growth needs to happen in my personal relationships, as a content creator and in my fitness journey.
Orange is The New Black can you come back already! I just really really reaaaaaly want to know what happened after that last scene on season 4.
Reading more books is something I have want to do more of. I remember as a child and even through high school, my summers would be spent reading. I really miss that. Books have a way of taking you to a place that you’ve never been and introducing you to different worlds.
The Humans of New York is a book that I am currently OBSESSED with. There’s just something about the human story that I find very endearing and interesting. The book itself features short paragraphs and pictures of the people the story is about. If you have not yet picked, it up, you can get it here.
Writing things down is such a powerful thing. Half the things I write down, I end up doing. Write your goals down on paper (I am telling you, it works). For me, writing things down acts as a compass. I write down my daily to-do list as well as my long term goals. This is something that I can not do without.
Calling my mom and speaking to her on the phone makes me happy. We always have a good laugh about the happenings of life.
Drinking tea in the mornings is my way to relax on the weekends. I am never eva giving that up! I want to try other teas (I’m living on the edge, I know).
Cooked kale is really yummy. Kale is so good especially when cooked and stuffed inside a tortilla. Sprinkle some fresh lemon juice on it, and add some rice and chicken to up the YUM factor.
Getting rid of clutter is something I am working on. In 2017 I want to trim the fat known as clutter! Containing the mess is top priority for me. The less clutter, the more focused I am.
Consistency is something I am struggling with. I can say I am getting better at being more consistent. Yay for progress!
Time is going by so fast. I can’t believe that it’s already May! Didn’t we just celebrate New Years yesterday!
Traveling is something I really want to start doing. I bought the Lonely Planet book: 1000 Ultimate Experiences. Reading travel books has opened up my eyes to the amazing places that I have yet to see, but want to see. I just have to decide on a destination and go!
Redecorating my apartment and sprucing things up is much needed. This is something I want to do before summer. I want to work and live in a space that inspires my creativity.
Realizing that the path of least resistance is an almighty scary one. The path of least resistance is a journey filled with very few ”congratulations”.
Meal prepping will save me alot of time. Food prep and cooking takes up alot of my time during the week. I can free up time by making my meals beforehand.
Noticing that people will always have something to say. What they have to say doesn’t have to stop me, or make me doubt or question myself.
Exploring new things and places in my city is something I want to do. After realizing that me and my friends always go to the same restaurants and stay around the same part of town, it’s time to mix it up.
Naps are a luxury that should never be underestimated. As an energetic kid in nursery school, I hardly wanted to nap. As an adult, I regret taking those scheduled nap times for granted.
Cairo Time is such a good movie! If you haven’t seen it you need to WATCH it. It’s a beautiful story about an unexpected love affair. I am not one to sit around and watch a typical cheesy romantic movie. Trust me when I say, this movie is subtle yet powerful and poetic. I will not mention any spoilers. Just go watch it!
Less sodium is something I need to watch out for. There’s already hidden salt in the weirdest foods & drinks (ahem pineapple juice at the store!). Adding more table salt to my food after it’s already cooked is unnecessary.
Taking risks does not mean not being afraid. Being brave means being afraid and taking that fear and using it as fuel. I want to do more with my life, take more risks.
You can never go wrong with a grande, soy, no whip, half-sweet, Caramel Macchiato on a cold, rainy day.
Making plans to really step into what I was destined to do.
I need to do my taxes as soon as I get all the required paperwork. This year, I filed three weeks away from the deadline. I took a hit on my tax refund, especially since I had some side income to report. -Ah well, you live, and you learn.
Life is something that doesn’t wait for no one. No one. It’s now or never.
Write it down if you want it. I strongly believe this applies to your goals, dreams and life.
Liking my iPhone’s Note function. I literally plan my day with this and jot it down as I go.
Spending time working on bettering myself is the best investment I can make.
I really enjoyed this month’s recap! Stay tuned for more to come at the end of each month.
