I’m a girl and I like shoes. I like them in different styles and colors. Neutrals and white shades are my preference for the most part.
White sneakers are tough for me to pass up. However, they can be difficult to keep clean. Still, I prefer to wear sneakers for my everyday casual wardrobe. The right sneakers can give you a look that is both effortless and put together (without looking like you tried too hard).
At anytime of the year, you can find me rocking my favorite pair of kicks. You don’t have to look shabby when wearing sneakers. You just have to find the right pair for you. Looking well put together, (but not like I tried too hard) is my favorite way to dress on most days.

1. Converse Low Tops
If you are looking for a classic pair of sneakers, Converse is high up that list. I feel like the Converse low tops are an all American shoe. These shoes are popular for a reason. You can wear them to the gym, as well as casually wherever you go. In my personal opinion, I find that when its leg day at the gym, these shoes really help to make my workout more intense. Anytime I wear my converse and do my squats, I feel the burn more than the other times when I am working legs & glutes with my regular running s.
2. Nike Thea
I own the Nike Thea running shoes in the color black. The shoe runs very true to size, so if you have wider feet, I would suggest going up a size. They go really well with Jeans and other casual outfits. If you are a runner and want to run in these, I would not recommend it. The Theas will wear out very quickly if you use them as jogging shoes. As everyday walking shoes or gym shoes (as long as you’re not running around the track), they work really well and are very comfortable. I use them on the treadmill while doing my HIT workouts and they are still in good condition.
3. Puma Suede Classic Shine Sneakers
Coral Cloud-Whisper White-Gold is such a pretty color on the Puma Suede Classic Shine Sneakers. Pink is not a color I usually wear. However, the coloring on these shoes is not too bright and in your face. The pink color on these Pumas is just the right shade. These shoes are so pretty especially when balanced with the white and gold detailing. I really like the pastel retro feel of this shoe.
4. DC Trase Slip Ons
There is something very effortless about slip on shoes for spring and summer. They are so easy to put on and be out the door. There are no shoelaces you need to tie. Just slip them on and go! I really like the DC Trase Slip Ons as a casual everyday shoe. As tough as it can be to maintain white shoes, these ones are good for summer (as long as its not raining or muddy). The shoe sizes run large since these are unisex. If you wear a size 7 like me, I would recommend that you go down by one size for a better fit.
5. J/Slides Calina Sneakers
The woven design on the J/Slides metallic slip ons really adds character to this shoe. The J/Slides are classy and not over the top. I like that the rose gold color and woven design adds just enough detail to spruce up any outfit. – Plus, who doesn’t love rose gold! These shoes also come in other gorgeous colors. Pewter, blush, white, platino (yellow gold), navy and black as well as other colors that you can choose from here.
6. New Balance Zante Sneakers
I mean look at these gems! Steel/Iridescent Copper is the color shown above. The New Balance Zante sneakers are just gorgeous. I saw the peach-orange ones and wanted to snatch them up and go to town with a bit of impulse shopping (shameless, i know). Unfortunately, that color is currently sold out on the Anthropologie website. But you can find other colors over at Amazon.com
7. Toms Women’s Avalon Sneaker Casual Shoe
Toms shoes have always been so comfy and homey. I call them airport shoes. Not because you should only wear them at the airport! But to me, Toms are really comfortable shoes. That being said, you can wear them anytime. Toms are great for when you have to walk around or stand for long amounts of time. The Toms Avalon Sneaker Shoe is so versatile, you can wear it with anything for that casual-chic look.
The great thing about Toms shoes is for every shoe you buy, they donate a new pair of shoes to a child in need! I really love their concept of giving back.
8. Adidas Superstar
Trendy is the word when it comes to the Adidas Superstar sneakers. The Superstars definitely make the cut when it comes to casual-chic sneakers. They also just so happen to be very popular at the moment with girls all over the world. Fashion has a way of making a comeback, and the Superstars were the IT shoes of the 70’s. My favorite color is the white with rose gold detailing. I am planning to get myself a pair for the summer. Black and white is the most popular color. The shoe also comes in other colors such as white, red, black with gold etc.
9. Kenneth Cole Women’s Kam Leather Sneaker
If you are into metallic, the Kenneth Cole Kam Leather Sneakers are worth a second look. Sleek and low profile, the Kam Leather Sneakers also look good with dresses, skirts or pants. Another pretty color is the soft gold color (a champagne gold). You can see the other color options on here.
10. New Balance 696 sneakers
I just love the nostalgic and vintage look of the New Balance 696 sneakers. It’s a classic shoe that would be a good addition to your everyday casual footwear. These sneakers have kind of a retro 80’s feel to them. Sporty-chic is what comes to my mind when I look at the 696 sneakers. Since these are made with some suede, I would wear them on a cooler summer day. Suede might get a tad too warm on hot summer days.
11. Sperry Women’s Seaside Slip-On Sneakers
Wearing open toed sandals usually makes my feet really gross and dirty. But then again, my feet usually get really hot especially in the summer heat. Perforated sneakers are a great way to compromise! These slip ons from Sperry make for a great summer shoe. They are so easy to put on. Just slip them on and be on your way out the door (without cooking your feet in the heat). The Sperry Seaside Slip Ons are great to wear casually as part of your everyday shoe.
Ok, that is my take on 11 stylish and affordable sneakers for women. The sneakers of 2017 are far from dull and boring. I’m sure there are more that I could add to this list, however the 11 mentioned here are my top picks.
Spring and summer is an amazing time for fashion. You do not have to be layered and lug around a big coat, so you can experiment more with different looks. I like to dress up from time to time, but when walking around, running errands, traveling etc.
I’d rather be comfortable. Being comfy doesn’t mean frumpy (just do not catch me at the grocery store late at night). You can wear sneakers outside the gym and still look put together. Pass yourself off as casual-chic! This of course depending on how you style the rest of your outfit.
What are your favorite sneakers that you like to wear in your day-to-day life? Add to the list.
